The Wiley X WX Helix Polarized Glasses Review

Die Wiley X WX Helix Polbrille im Test

After a good year of use, all I can say is that I am absolutely thrilled with the Helix 2. I must admit that I struggled to spend 200 euros on a pair of polarized sunglasses. Since I definitely focus on reeling in and taking care of the fish in the excitement (a beautiful fish has bitten) and don't pay attention to how and where I put down my glasses, I was very afraid that I would quickly scratch or break them.

It can be stated here that the lenses are very scratch-resistant and the frame is extremely stable. I even sat on the glasses twice (a proud 105 kg?), because I had put them on my kayak seat, without them being damaged.

Further protection is provided by the light but sturdy glasses case, which offers good protection for storage and transport. Dust and water splashes can be easily removed with the accompanying microfiber cloth.

I now also love wearing the glasses in everyday life because they are really comfortable and also stylish, which you definitely can't say about many polarized sunglasses.

Especially on the water, the Helix 2 can show its strengths. It significantly reduces the reflection of the water and allows you to see fish and other structures under water much better. Spotting potential predators is thus made much easier.

Especially when fishing from a belly boat or a kayak, I was able to catch several pike with the Helix 2 that I probably wouldn't have caught otherwise. The pike often follow directly behind the kayak and only attack at the last moment. Since I could clearly see the pike by using the Helix 2, I was able to keep my lure in the biting zone for another short moment and thus entice the fish to bite.

Since I have now experienced all seasons and weather conditions of a German and Dutch fishing year together with the Helix 2, I can state that it performs excellently in bright sunshine as well as in cloudy conditions.

I haven't tried the included Swivel Side Shields yet, as I haven't needed them.

Due to the fact that I have also tried some cheaper polarized sunglasses (price segment 40 to 90 Euros), I can definitely say that it is worth spending a little more and thus also getting absolute added value in terms of performance and durability. Of course, you can also get cool WileyX models like this here with us .

Many thanks to Tobias Wendt for this great report and continued good fishing!
